I joined this project with a team of four during the 2015-2016 summer period to help with the data coding constituent of the Transitions Study research. I had heard about this project through a fellow peer whom undertook some similar work in the prior summer as an employed student research assistant based at the University of Otago. I am a student at the university undertaking the completion of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and minoring in Maori.

My interests inherently lie with young people so the opportunity to be a part of this research was greatly appreciated. I hope that my little part in the project helps to provide some qualitative data for future changes, particularly in the area of policy for youth. The stories of these young people certainly leave an impact upon the reader and I have the utmost respect for the people who have decided to take part in the study.
